Metamorphosis at Mullet Creek

for solo recorder

Metamorphosis at Mullet Creek was written for John Turner who gave the first performance at a 60th-birthday concert at the Huddersfield Festival in 1994 for Anthony Gilbert, to whom the piece is dedicated,.

Mullet Creek, a secret water, full of birdsong, runs out of the hills into the northern shore of the Hawkesbury River, NSW. Metamorphosis was kindled by the memory of a moment there one day in 1979, a few months after Anthony Gilbert first arrived in Australia.
